There are many methods of transportation in North Cyprus that allow you to travel around the island. However, the method that allows you the most independence in North Cyprus is car rental. If this is your second visit to the North Cyprus Island then this might be the best way for you to get around. This is even truer if you have little time for your holiday and know where you want to go in North Cyprus. A rental car allows you to work on your own holiday schedule.

Also if you are visiting the Northern Cyprus Island to check on the progress of your construction or to see houses it is better to have a car to travel around. Minibus or Kombos routes normally do not venture far off the main road and in most cases the North Cyprus property that might interest you is not on the main road. You can hire a car in North Cyprus if you have a valid driving license and are over the age of 25. This is not a set age limit, however, it is observed in most car hire companies. The reason being that in most cases insurance companies will not insure drivers who are under that age.

Please note that foreign driving licenses are only valid for three months from your date of entry to North Cyprus.
