NORTH CYPRUS NICOSIA
Nicosia is the TRNC, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, capital, which
is considered the main business, industrial and administrative city. This
Nicosia town also has two border crossing points that allow tourists and
citizens from North Cyprus access to the other side of the green line.
Through here people can cross to the south while those who wish to fly
to Northern Cyprus may also land at the Southern airports and cross to
the North.
The North Cyprus capital Nicosia is also the location of the main state hospital. Although there are hospitals in other TRNC cities, this is the main hospital of North Cyprus that handles the major operations and procedures.
Most of the paper work that will be done for almost anything in Northern
Cyprus has to be done in Nicosia. Be prepared to spend a lot of time here
in the capital of North Cyprus if you need to get involved in the bureaucratic
process. There are actually several options in terms of Northern Cyprus
transportation that are available to you when going through any such process.
If you actually know where the buildings are then perhaps you would be
better off renting
a car. Another option would involve going into town by minibus or
Kombos available in North Cyprus. Then from their respective terminals
you could walk to most government offices. The minibus terminal in TRNC
Nicosia is perhaps best suited for this as it is the closest to these
buildings. The Kombos terminal is further in Nicosia town and once there
you would have to make your way back (it’s a longer walk). So with
the Kombos you would be in for a longer trek or you would have to know
where to get off.
The problem is that there are some places in North Cyprus Nicosia that
are not too close to each other. While most government offices are clustered
in the same area there are also some that are not in this cluster. The
most notable of these are the customs offices and the quarantine area
for pets. If you are shipping your personal effects into Northern Cyprus
you will need to see the customs office. This is located on the main highway
that lies on the outskirt of Nicosia. While it is possible to get to there
from the city centre by walking it is not recommended since it is quite
a walk. The quarantine area is also located the same highway in Nicosia
Northern Cyprus. A third option involves the car hire of a runner to take
care of the process.
Besides the obvious there are also many historical sites to visit while
in Nicosia, North Cyprus. There are many places to see such as mosques,
Venetian walls, and castles.
